What Do We Believe

What do we Believe?

Many people including Christians often interpret things of God or the Bible in different ways. Churches obviously have to accommodate this, but at the same time, there is a need for agreement and unity around certain fundamental aspects of the Christian Faith. We would call these things our core beliefs. The following document outlines the Basis for our Christian Faith:

Basis of our Christian Faith

We believe in...

  1. The one true God who lives eternally in three persons—the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit.
  2. The love, grace and sovereignty of God in creating, sustaining, ruling, redeeming and judging the world.
  3. The divine inspiration and supreme authority of the Old and New Testament Scriptures, which are the written Word of God—fully trustworthy for faith and conduct.
  4. That Christ, God’s one and only Son has restored the dignity of all people, made in His image to love, be holy and care for God’s creation.
  5. The humanity of God’s eternal Son, the Son of Man born of the Virgin Mary; truly divine and truly human, yet without sin.
  6. The death of Christ on the cross, who died in our place, paying the price for sin and defeating the devil so bringing His salvation and relationship with our Father God.
  7. The bodily resurrection of Christ, his ascension to the Father, and his rule and reign as the only Saviour of the world.
  8. The forgiveness of sinners solely by the grace of God through faith in Christ.
  9. The ministry of God the Holy Spirit, who leads us to repentance, unites us with Christ through the new birth, leads, instructs, comforts and empowers us to be effective in our Christian expression.
  10. The Church, the body of Christ, both local and universal, the priesthood of all believers—given life by the Spirit and endowed with the Spirit's gifts to worship God and proclaim the gospel, promoting justice and love.
  11. The personal and visible return of Jesus Christ to fulfill the purposes of God. He will judge the living and the dead. Eternal life (in Heaven) to those in relationship with Him and eternal separation in Hell to those who have rejected Him.
  12. Jesus Christ will establish a new Heaven and a new Earth; He will wipe away every tear, heal and restore relationships. Justice and peace will be fully restored and the Christ will govern the nations forever.
